Bethany’s entry into the world was far from easy. Born with birth defects that affected a significant part of her face, she faced adversity from the very beginning. Rescued from the streets of Ukraine, her life was marked by challenges, but her spirit remained unbroken.

At first glance, Bethany’s appearance is unconventional. Her nose is turned entirely to the right side of her face, her eyes seem to face in opposite directions, her teeth are fully exposed, and one of her eyes is deviated. Unfortunately, this appearance has caused many to react with fear or misunderstanding.

People, quick to judge by appearances, often assume the worst when they encounter Bethany. They may think she’s unwell or aggressive, but nothing could be further from the truth. Bethany possesses all the qualities that make a dog extraordinary—she’s healthy, sociable, cheerful, obedient, and adores children. However, her unconventional appearance has made her journey a challenging one.

Bethany’s path led her to the Safe Rescue for Dogs shelter in England, where she has spent a considerable amount of time waiting for a forever home. Prospective adoptive families have approached her, observed her, and unfortunately, decided against taking her home.

But Bethany, a dog of unwavering hope, continues to believe that there’s someone out there who will accept her just as she is—a unique and beautiful soul with so much love to give.

One shelter volunteer emphasized, “There’s nothing wrong with Bethany; she doesn’t even snore when she sleeps.” The shelter staff is confident in Bethany’s health and temperament, repeatedly reassuring potential adopters that she poses no risks.

“People often ask if we’re sure we’re doing the right thing, and how we know. We’ve taken her to the vet several times, so we know she’s okay,” explained a shelter staff member. “If she was so sick, they would have euthanized her because that’s their job. She’s the most beautiful dog I’ve ever met; she’s truly amazing.”
