Manfred has now informed the baseball world that he will retire from his post as Commissioner in January 2029. This massive reveal came on Thursday at a Spring training news conference.

This will bring an end to a 14-year tenure of him. He first picked up this position in 2015 when he replaced Bud Selig. At the moment he was given a five-year term, which in 2018 was extended upto 2024. He was later re-elected to this post and continued on.

You can only have so much fun in one lifetime. I have been open with them about the fact that this is going to be my last term. I said it to them before the election in July and I’m absolutely committed to that.
