CRAZY VIDEO: Dodgers Batboy Saves Shohei Ohtani’s Life Thanks To Unbelievable Reflexes … Closest Call Ever??

Los Angeles Dodgers’ batboy Javier Herrera has quickly become the center of attention on social media due to his remarkable actions during a recent game.

Once again making headlines, Herrera, unlike a memorable incident from nine years prior, has earned widespread acclaim for his sharp reflexes following an impressive feat. This time, he caught a flying foul ball with his bare hands, potentially sparing Dodgers’ star Shohei Ohtani from severe injury.

Captured on camera during the Dodgers’ sweeping 4-0 victory over the Chicago White Sox last Wednesday at Guaranteed Rate Field, the video showcases Herrera’s quick thinking. Positioned at the dugout steps with Ohtani just behind him, Herrera instinctively intercepted a foul ball aimed straight for the face of the two-time AL MVP, using nothing but his hands.

The 38-year-old Herrera, who has dedicated two decades of his life to being a Dodgers’ batboy, demonstrated his protective instincts without a second thought, avoiding what could have been a dire situation for Ohtani.

Herrera’s reaction, a mere glance towards Ohtani before nonchalantly handing the ball off, belied the incredible nature of his catch. Ohtani, having earlier hit his 25th home run of the season to lead the National League, approached Herrera with a beaming smile, as Ohtani’s interpreter, Will Ireton, looked on in sheer astonishment.

This incident starkly contrasts Herrera’s experience on August 16, 2016, when a foul ball catch attempt went comically awry. During a Dodgers vs.

Cincinnati Reds game, Herrera attempted to catch a foul ball, only to end up tumbling backward over a table into a concrete fall, much to the concern of legendary broadcaster Vin Scully and the entertainment of the watching crowd. Despite the tumble, Herrera’s effort was met with applause rather than ridicule, a moment he initially feared would earn him national embarrassment but instead showcased his dedication and spirit.

Herrera’s journey from a comical tumble to a heroic catch highlights not just his personal growth but also his unwavering commitment to his role with the Dodgers, making him a beloved figure among fans and players alike.
