The NFL world is in complete shock this week after the announcement that OJ Simpson had tragically lost his life this week.

The tragic news came from TMZ Sports who stated he passed away after a battle with cancer.

He was just 76 years old.

It was reported back in February that OJ Simpson was battling prostate cancer and was in hospice care. However, he would soon release a video stating otherwise. It appears he was going through issues and did not want the public to know about his health.

OJ Simpson was undergoing chemotherapy in Las Vegas where he had been living since he was released from prison years ago. According to the American Cancer Society: The relative 5-year survival rate is nearly 100% The relative 10-year survival rate is 98% The 15-year relative survival rate is 91%.

More than 95 percent of cancer patients will survive for at least a year. More than 85 percent of cancer patients will live for at least five years. Almost 80 percent of cancer patients will live for at least ten years after diagnosis.

OJ Simpson served nine years in a Nevada prison following a conviction for a 2007 armed robbery, involving an attempt to retrieve personal sports mementos at an off-strip Las Vegas casino hotel.

Simpson was discharged from parole on Dec. 1, 2021, and has lived in Las Vegas ever since.

This prison stint for Simpson would come after his acquitted in 1995 of the double slayings of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman.
