With the MLB 2024 season on the horizon, there seems to be a major issuing coming from their internal office. Shocking reports have now emerged of an internal war among the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA).
According to reports from Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, several major and minor league players have voiced their frustrations to Tony Clark, the executive director of the MLBPA to oust of deputy director Bruce Meyer. As tensions continue to grow, several major players were reached out and asked about their opinion on the matter. New York Mets’ Francisco Lindor appears to be in support of them.
Lindor was reached out to by Joel Sharman of NY Post. During this, the shortstop choose his words carefully as to not misinterpret something. This come after he was part of a Zoom call on Monday night which saw a discussion on whether Meyer should be thrown out from his position.
I appreciate what they have done. This is a question that I have to be very careful in the way I answer it, because people can misinterpret it, but I personally think that we can definitely improve, but I am not one to remove people. But there is definitely room for improvement.

The majority of the players though do not seem to share the same vision as Lindor. They have named Harry Marino to led the charge and replace Meyer from his position. To make things more spicy, Marino and Meyer are reported to have a frosty working relationship.
Scott Boras reported to one of the reason for internal war
Before the start of a new season, the last thing the MLB wanted was a coup attempt. The internal war in the MLBPA union has tensed up things between the players and the leaders. During this, the name of super-agent Scott Boras has surfaced up with many blaming him to be one of reason for this conflict.
The 71-year-old has been under the wrath of fans for his work. Boras currently represents several big names in MLB. The players now believe that Tony Clark and Bruce Meyer have both aligned with him too much.

This also comes after several free agents (which included several clients of Boras) had to wait too long to find a new clubhouse. After hearing his name come up in this, the super-agent hit back and claimed the MLBPA should not publicly announce such matters.
If you have issues with the union and you want to be involved with the union, you take your ideas to them. You do not take them publicly.

It now remains to be seen how long will this war go on. With the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) negotiations taking place in 2026, this matter is something the union would like to resolve as soon as possible.
