With the 2024 NBA Free Agency approaching, plenty of players are set to sign with different teams. The biggest name on the market is LeBron James, and it seems as though his time in Los Angeles is coming to an end after six seasons. The best team for James to sign with in free agency is the Phoenix Suns.
At 39 years old, it is hard to deny that he is still playing at an elite level. James is still averaging 25 points per game with over seven rebounds and over eight assists. The Suns need that from a player that can show up in the fourth quarter to close out games, and they were horrendous in doing so. James was the best at this for the Lakers last season, leading the team in fourth quarter points per game with 8.1, second in rebounds with 1.9, and lead in assists with 2.0 all while playing an average of 9.5 minutes per game in the fourth. His overall ability to facilitate the ball to set the offense up for success would majorly help the Suns offense function better.
What makes Phoenix enticing for James starts with the connection to general manager James Jones. James and Jones played together in the Cleveland Cavaliers, where James has been vocal about his respect for Jones and the connection they have. That connection factor continues as James is good friends with Kevin Durant, which is another draw factor to play with a close friend, and someone still playing at just as equally of a high level. With having other star players that know how to step up as well in Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, it takes the pressure off James to feel like he has to do everything, and can just focus on his game.
The Suns at 22nd overall in the NBA Draft are in an ideal position to draft Bronny James. In getting Bronny James, it has been well known that LeBron James wants to play with his son, and with Phoenix needing future guard help it would present a win-win opportunity.
The Suns know they are a player away from a championship, and that player will be LeBron James. For James, this is the best opportunity to win another championship with proven players that don’t have a learning curve to go through with experience. Making this ideal for both sides.
