Tyson Fury Drops Biggest Hint Yet On His Weight For Usyk Rematch: “That Wasn’t Me Before”

Tyson Fury is as confident as he ever has been on beating Oleksandr Usyk despite being served his first defeat in the same match-up less than five months ago.
The Brit lost out on becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion in over two decades when he was bested over 12 by the Ukrainian. With the rematch fast approaching, he still says he thinks he should have had the nod on the scorecards.
With training now kicking off, Fury took to social media to discuss what weight he has in mind, saying that being in ‘the shape of his life’ before the first encounter ‘was not him.’
“I was in the shape of my life but this is not [The Gypsy King]. This is him. 19 stone 11 pounds.”
Alongside the posts were pictures of Fury from the first Usyk training camp as well as him fighting Deontay Wilder for the third time.
The statement speaks to Fury’s gameplan, which he hasn’t been shy in giving away. Just like he did for the second and third Wilder fights after battling to a draw in the first, he says he plans to come in for the knockout against Usyk and take it out of the hands of the judges. He was successful on both occasions against the American.
Fury weighed in at 262 pounds for the undisputed bout earlier this year, a marked drop from the 277 against Wilder in 2021.
Usyk, though, is known for adapting, both in the ring and during his preparation. He will also feel confident of a stoppage given it was him who scored the most hurtful round in the fight by quite a distance.
All of the above adds to the intrigue of a warranted heavyweight rematch, taking place on December 12 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
