Andy Cohen reveals his pet peeve about hosting CNN’s New Year’s Eve broadcast with Anderson Cooper

Andy Cohen is gearing up to host the annual New Year’s Eve countdown with Anderson Cooper.

And while the two media personalities are a delight to watch together, behind the scenes there can be a little tension.

Cohen, 56, and Anderson, 57, have been close friends for years and he wasn’t afraid to talk about his pet peeve when it comes to the year end broadcast.

‘Well, [it’s] that I have to be the straight guy,’ the Bravo host revealed to People.

‘Literally, he’s in a puddle of giggles for the last 90 minutes of the broadcast, and I’m the one that’s hitting all the commercial breaks.’

‘I kind of turn into Mr. CNN for the last 90 minutes, and he turns into Mr. Bravo,’ he added. ‘It’s a very funny role reversal.’

Anderson also revealed his pet peeve during a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live.

‘Just who he’s gonna insult and what the clean up on aisle three is gonna be in the morning,’ Cooper said earlier this month.

The son of designer Gloria Vanderbilt was likely referring to the 2021 broadcast when Cohen, who was drunk at the time, insulted Ryan Seacrest and the ABC New Year’s Eve broadcast.

Cohen called Seacrest’s show a ‘group of losers,’ which led to him having to face the music the next day with a hangover.

Cohen immediately regretted his words.

‘I really like Ryan Seacrest and he’s a great guy and I really regret saying that and I was just stupid and drunk and feeling it,’ he told Howard Stern at the time.

Cohen recently revealed that his son Benjamin, five, asked for police drones this Christmas.

‘He had me help him write a letter to Santa, and he said he wants a police drone for himself, which is very timely,’ Cohen told Us Weekly in a new interview.

‘A Lego police drone that really flies. I’m like, “I don’t think that exists, but all right.” It is timely,’ he added.

The Watch What Happens Live host wondered if his son had been tuning into the news given his aptly timed request.

‘I’m like, “What have you been watching the news?”‘ Cohen joked.

But besides these Lego police drones, there are a few other things on Ben’s Christmas list – and they included things for his little sister, Lucy, two.

‘He asked for bath toys for Lucy and he wants a kit of Valentine’s cards so he can make Valentine’s for me ’cause he loves me,’ Cohen shared with the outlet.

Cohen is also dad to daughter Lucy, two.

He is a single parent, and has been open about his journey so far, often showing off funny and relatable moments with his kids on his Instagram page.

In an interview with People last year, the Bravo TV producer shared even more about his son’s ‘funny’ personality.

‘And he said, “I’m gonna put them on bottles.” I mean, it’s quite literal, but I thought, “Oh, you’re smart.”‘
