A Journey of Resilience and Determination

Sofronio Vasquez’s life is a testament to perseverance. Growing up in poverty in Mindanao, Philippines, without basic amenities like a bed or indoor plumbing, music was a source of joy for his family. Guided by his father, his first mentor, Vasquez developed his love for singing.

After moving to Utica, New York, in 2022, he found a new home and purpose. Reflecting on his path, he said, “I was just a happy kid and not a dreamer before. But now, with all the adversities in life, I got to be just me, me.”

Vasquez’s journey also honors his late father, whose passing inspired him to leave dentistry and fully pursue music. On The Voice, he adapted to American audiences’ soulful preferences, trusting in his unique voice and heart.

Under Michael Bublé’s mentorship, Vasquez thrived, earning praise for his courage and resilience. “Through all this adversity… you take the brass ring,” Bublé said, lauding his strength.

Vasquez calls the experience a dream come true, saying, “Win or lose, I’m just excited to finally say, ‘I did it.’” From a small town in Mindanao to a big stage in America, his journey inspires dreamers everywhere.
