Donna Kelce Joins Cast of Hallmark’s Kansas City Chiefs Rom-Com
The marriage of Swifties and Chiefs fans has culminated in the mother of all cameos, following her son Travis Kelce‘s whirlwind romance with Taylor Swift.
Donna Kelce has been cast alongside Hunter King and Tyler Hynes in Hallmark‘s upcoming 15th Countdown to Christmas movie Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story, premiering later this year.
“Look who’s joining @hunterking and @tyler_hynes in #HolidayTouchdown: A @Chiefs Love Story!” Hallmark captioned a video announcement. “Please welcome America’s football mom @donnakelce to the cast. Don’t miss the world premiere later this year during #CountdownToChristmas.”
Donna Kelce will star in the manager of Kansas City BBQ restaurant Norma & Nic’s. She appeared in the announcement clip with King and Hynes from what appeared to be the set for Norma & Nic’s.
King plays Alana, whose family of lifelong Kansas City Chiefs fans is in the running for the NFL team’s annual “Fan of the Year” contest.
During the contest, she strikes up a romance with Derrick (Hynes), the Chiefs’ director of fan engagement. But her trust in fate takes a hit when her grandfather’s (Ed Begley Jr.) lucky Chiefs hat goes missing. Holiday Touchdown also stars Diedrich Bader (American Housewife, Office Space), Megyn Price (The Ranch, Rules of Engagement).
Other stars include Richard Riehle (Barry, Office Space) and Christine Ebersole (Bob Hearts Abishola, The Kominsky Method).
Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid, guard Trey Smith, wide receiver Mecole Hardman Jr., running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire and defensive end George Karlaftis will also appear, as well as Chiefs fan and red carpet correspondent Taylen Biggs. Additional casting will be announced later.
Filming is currently underway in and around Kansas City, Mo., including at the GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
Amid her son’s relationship with Swift, Donna Kelce has gained a following of her own during frequent appearances with the Grammy Award winner as they cheered on Travis from their private stadium suite.
