During a radio interview, Ryan, 49, detailed a Wheel of Fortune-themed event planned for Friday night.

He shared with fans that the production team was bringing Wheel of Fortune to the Santa Monica Pier, debuting the largest Wheel of Fortune ever as they transform the Ferris wheel into a wheel just like the one of the game show.

The American Idol host also talked about the upcoming season of the U.S. game show.

“This is actually really, really exciting and the Wheel of Fortune team has put this together,” he began.

“So, I just – I can’t – It’s hard to say this because I can’t believe it’s happening, but I am hosting Wheel of Fortune.”

Ryan added, “It starts September 9. We have taped episodes already, and the best part is meeting three people every night and seeing their reaction to winning.

“It’s the best part. It’s the highlight.”

Ryan called the new season “a brand new era of Wheel of Fortune,” and urged fans to tune in.

A video clip from the conversation was posted on Instagram, where fans expressed their excitement for the next chapter of Wheel of Fortune right back.

“So awesome!!!” gushed one person.

“Way to go, Ryan!!” exclaimed another.

“Sounds fun,” wrote a fourth supporter.

TOTAL REVAMP

Things are changing on the long-running show now that it has changed hands.

Wheel of Fortune Host Timeline

Although Pat and Vanna have been a staple on the game show for decades, there have been other hosts

Chuck Woolery was the host from 1975 to 1981

He co-hosted alongside Susan Stafford (1975 to 1982)

Vanna White then stepped in as hostess in 1982 and has been ever since

After a contract and salary dispute, the show got rid of Chuck and brought in Pat in 1982

Pat hosted with Susan for one season

He then left the game show in 1989 to host a late-night talk show for CBS

For five months, NFL player Rolf Benirschke took his place

In July 1989, Bob Goen hosted the show on CBS

He hosted for a year and a half until the show was canceled in 1991

The show was then moved to ABC with Pat and Vanna hosting for the foreseeable future

In 2023, Pat announced his retirement and Ryan Seacrest as quickly named as his replacement

In addition to a whole new host, the Wheel of Fortune set has been revamped.

Ryan and his co-star Vanna White have given fans short glimpses at the set but they’re eager to see it on TV when the competition resumes this fall.

The TV personality shared a more in-depth look at the new Wheel of Fortune set on Friday, ramping up excitement from fans.

Ryan appeared in a Wheel of Fortune teaser video, stepping into frame as he said, “Let’s take this thing for a spin?”

“Ready to take the wheel in a few weeks! Mark your calendars: premiering Sept 9th,” his caption read.

The new set was visible in the video, featuring bright colors, palm trees, and the massive wheel on display for fans to look at.

Fans were so thrilled with the sneak peek, and made it known in the comments.

“Let’s go Ryan Seacrest! I can’t wait to watch the first taped show of your era on my local station WECT! I love wheel so much & a huge fan of it,” penned one eager fan.

Another shared, “Will be great to finally see your first episodes. Ever since we (public and former contestants) knew you would be taking over, there’s been such excitement from most.”

Yet a third added, “Can’t wait! Another chapter in your life.”

“I haven’t watched the show in 1 million years but I’ll watch it to see you,” assured a fourth.

Good Morning America featured some glimpses of the new set before Ryan’s post.

MAKING CHANGES

A new set and a new host aren’t all the new things Wheel of Fortune fans will be treated to when Ryan takes over.

An insider told The U.S. Sun on Wednesday that Ryan is bringing a whole new style to the set.

He will step in as host in September via pre-taped episodes, taking over for Pat, 77, who retired in June after 42 years.

Insiders say Ryan’s cocky attitude will show on set.

“Ryan is simply not doing the low-key version of the show that Pat did,” a studio source revealed.

“He’s brought every bit of his ‘hype-beast’ morning radio and New Year’s Eve energy to the production of his first episodes.

“It’s a pretty big shift and an obvious grab for a younger generation of viewers than Pat had.

“Ryan just makes the whole Wheel experience feel hipper, faster and less sleepy than the version of the show that Pat did for all those years.”

Despite the new style, Ryan did pay tribute to Pat when his last episode aired, praising his “dedication, charm, and wit.

“Your partnership with Vanna has been nothing short of iconic, and together, you’ve created countless wonderful memories for viewers,” Ryan penned in an Instagram caption.

“You’ve set the standard for hosts everywhere, and this marks the end of an era.”

According to the source, fans will immediately see the changes that Ryan is bringing to Wheel of Fortune.

“The game and rules are the same, and Ryan is good at putting the focus on that, but he’s also incredibly quick on his feet and, amazingly, is a master of memorization and doesn’t rely on the teleprompter remotely as much as Pat did,” the insider confirmed.

“He’s totally capable of fun and uplifting improvisation, with the banter with the contestants.

“God knows how many old episodes of Wheel he watched, but he really prepared for this gig.

“But remember, Ryan has been training himself for these kinds of jobs since he was a teenager, and he has decades of experience interviewing regular people from his American Idol run.

“The choice of putting him on Wheel was an inspired one and the bosses at Sony TV are beyond excited to see the fan response to the updated show when they start rolling out the new episodes.”
